School going children attend the homework room in Cosmo City, Monday to Friday during school terms. Homework is done and the children are fed. During school holidays, there are Homework Room Holiday Clubs for extra assistance for the students.
Childhood Development (ECD)
Education is critical to the further development of our children and country.
Liberty Compassion has identified key areas whereby Schools, Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres and practitioners are having difficulty assisting their children due to a lack of training, knowledge and understanding government compliance.
Sponsor a Child
In partnering with us, your monthly or once off donation assists in our ongoing projects – ECD practitioner training, developing children, facilitation ECD centre Government Compliance and access to our Homework Room (assisting children from Grade 1 to 7 with their daily homework as well as holiday workshops)
During Lockdown, our soup kitchens had to close temporarily. We ran a soup kitchen at our West Campus (Discovery) every Tuesday, and in our Cosmo City region on Saturday during the winter months. Watch this space.
Our food pantries give food parcels to those in need both in our Liberty Church family and families in the communities we serve.
Community Outreach Programmes / Events
Collection and distribution of blankets, beanies and scarves in winter.
Teddy bear drive to children in the nursery schools we support.
Christmas party and gift drive to children and pre schools we support.
Every Tuesday, all year round, those less fortunate, mostly homeless, come to our West Campus soup kitchen. They partake in praise and worship with a message from one of our pastors who volunteer their time to preach to these people in need.
After the short service they are served soup and buttered bread. There are also opportunities to give the attendees with clothing, bibles, blankets or food hampers when they have been donated to us.
We also run a soup kitchen at our Cosmo City Region every Saturday during our winter months. This is manned and provided for by volunteers from our congregation. Volunteers bring soup, buttered bread and oranges that are served to the community at our Campus. We have also been fortunate enough to gift scarves, beanies and blankets during to attendees during this time.
One of our most valuable projects is our Homework Room run from our Cosmo City Region.
School going children attend the homework room, Monday to Friday during school terms. There is a short quiet time where the children listen to a bible story and pray and then continue with their homework. All homework must be signed off before a child can leave for the day. Each child is given a sandwich, orange or apple and some juice every day.
SPONSOR A CHILD
Every year we look for sponsors to give a monthly donation for a pre school or school going child in Cosmo City or Plot 8.
Your sponsorship for the nursery school children goes toward the monthly school fees for the children and a Christmas Party at the end of the year.
We are aware of some of these children that if they do not attend pre school could be left alone at home when their guardian manages to find peace work. It is so important to get these little ones into nursery school where they are loved, fed and taught in preparation for school.
The student funds are used to gift the children with a summer school uniform and stationery at the start of the year and a winter uniform midyear and access to the homework room on a daily basis (includes lunch). There are also sports, toiletry and food parcels during the year.
There is a great need in these communities to ensure children receive the necessary clothing, equipment and food to ensure that they can concentrate on their studies and not be worried about these needs.
If you would like to make a monthly or once off donation please email email@example.com
Our food pantries provide food parcels to those in need both in our Liberty family and families in the communities we serve. We rely solely on donations in order to meet the needs of those less fortunate.
The food parcel contains enough food for a family of 4 for 2 weeks. We would love to see everyone in the congregation donating an item every month to keep our pantry stocked. You can assist by downloading & printing the attached list. Then take the list with you when you go shopping, put an item or two into your trolley and drop it off at Connect Central or into the Orange Bins at North and West Campuses.
