What we do
Four pillars, worked out as real programmes that run week after week across Johannesburg.
-
01
Education
Our Early Childhood Development (ECD) project partners with pre-schools on nutrition, facilities and teacher training.
-
02
Under resourced & vulnerable
Red Grocery Bags put food into the hands of families who need it. Care Days provide a nutritious meal, essential groceries, clothing and a short encouraging message.
-
03
Widows & orphans
Our Mercy Fund is a once-off assistance programme for emergency financial relief and essential services.
-
04
Freedom from exploitation
We partner with organisations to raise awareness of gender based violence, anti human trafficking and exploitation.
Pillar 01
Education
Early Childhood Development
Our ECD project focuses on the well-being of young children — by improving their environment, providing adequate nutrition and ensuring quality education of both the child and practitioner.
We are currently partnered with two pre-schools, providing financial assistance towards training of an educator, nutritious meals, and assisting with the repairs and improvements needed at the pre-schools — replacing ceilings, painting classrooms, and painting and fixing play equipment.

Pillar 02
The under resourced & vulnerable
Red Grocery Bags
We encourage individuals, families and work colleagues to take an empty grocery bag, fill it with groceries, return the full bag to the Liberty Compassion station, and exchange it for another empty bag.

Care Days
It is simply families helping families. At each Care Day we assist families with a nutritious meal, essential groceries, clothing and a short encouraging message.
On Mandela Day 2023 we introduced our first Care Day at Liberty Church West Campus, and launched our second Care Day at Liberty Church North Campus on Mandela Day 2024.
Pillar 03
Widows & orphans

Mercy Fund
We are dedicated to providing a helping hand to our Liberty Church partners. Our once-off assistance programme is designed to support a range of needs, such as emergency financial relief and essential services.
In 2025 we assisted 39 families from our Mercy Fund.
Pillar 04
Freedom from exploitation

Liberty Compassion partners with organisations to raise awareness with regards to:
- Gender Based Violence
- Anti Human Trafficking
- Exploitation

Mandela Day
Mandela Day is always a highlight in our year calendar. We try to launch a new project or programme each Mandela Day. Care Days launched at West Campus in 2023 and North Campus in 2024.
-
Oct / Nov
Compassion Run
Runners and walkers take on 5km, 10km or 21km and raise money for Liberty Compassion. In 2022, 21 runners ran 21km for R21 000. In 2023, 40 runners raised R25 000.
-
November
ECD Christmas Parties
We host Christmas Parties at the pre-schools we partner with, reaching around 250 children. Each child receives a back pack with stationery items for the new school year and some goodies to eat.
